Photographes animaliers

HOBSON Sam

Ce photographe Anglais s'est spécialisé dans la vie sauvage en milieu urbain.

I’m a wildlife photographer, based in Bristol, UK - the heart of natural history television and film.

I grew up in London, which might not seem the best place to experience the natural world, but with a back garden full of foxes, hedgehogs and stag beetles I was off to a better start than most urbanite kids in the 80s. It taught me at an early age that wildlife is all around us, and that staying curious and observant leads to amazing wildlife experiences, be it in the city, the country, or further afield.

Knowing how to spot animals and understand their behaviour has been the cornerstone in my career as a photographer and film-maker.

My connection to the natural world has enriched my life, and I am always keen to encourage others to do the same. To this end, I have organised an urban migration study group, given talks and interviews about my work and published articles about my travels, adventures and wildlife that people can experience right here in the UK.

I hope that through my work I can inspire others to look around them and appreciate the wild wonders of our planet, from the majestic megafauna to those minute backyard beetles.

DISTINCTIONS

My photography has been published in a number of books and magazines, including regularly in BBC Wildlife magazine and the international press.

I have been awarded in Wildlife Photographer of the Year, GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the Year, British Wildlife Photography Awards and Terre Sauvage / IUCN Nature's Images Awards.

I’ve filmed wildlife for television, consulted on a number of natural history documentaries (BBC / Terra Mater / Sky), and I recently personally featured on the BBC’s Springwatch series in a story about my work with urban peregrine falcons.
