Né en 1956, Klaus Nigge a commencé la photographie en 1984 après avoir étudié la philosophie, l'art et la biologie.
Il est depuis 1991 membre de la GDT (Gesellschaft Deutscher Tierfotografen, Society of German Nature Photographers), dont il a été Président entre 1992 et 1995
Photographe professionnel depuis 1995, ses reportages photographiques ont été publiés entre autres dans le National Geographic, GEO
Il a été lauréat du prestigieux concours BBC Wildlife
