I have been enchanted by wildlife and the natural world for as long as I can remember, and now wildlife photography is my avocation and obsession.
As a young child growing up on a farm, I quickly turned to the seemingly endless expanse of wildlife on the farm and fulfill my urge to be outdoors. Exploring nature by horseback or by foot, I began to form a strong sense of appreciation and amazement for all things natural. This appreciation has stayed, and even grown with me, my entire life.
It wasn't until I picked up a camera, that I realized how I could capture the beauty of nature.
Capturing images in their natural beauty alone has never been enough for me, as nature has its own stories to tell. They spring from the things I see and the events I witness. They may be told by a pack of dogs, a wildebeest on the horizon or a bird in the sky. I slow my pace to uncover them using my camera like a writer uses a pen.
As a medium, photography allows me to create art in my own way by depicting nature as I see it through the use of different lenses, shutter speeds, apertures, and composition. I strive to keep my final image as close to what I saw and felt in person as possible, and as such, with the exception of cropping, minor color work, and minor contrast work I generally avoid altering my photographs with a heavy hand.
To be able to capture a moment in the ongoing and amazing flow of nature based on the everlasting flow and ebb of time, is a GOD given gift and I am for ever grateful to have the ability to share my images with all like minded individuals.
All animals shown on the photographs are wild and photographed in the wild.
Thank you for visiting my portfolio and I hope my images will inspire you, to get closer to nature, capture its beauty and enjoy its peace and tranquility.
